Another one of those days

We didn't post yesterday, we took a day off.  I know what you are thinking, we are on vacation, what do you mean taking a day off!  I even know which couple, (who live in Pickering) you are.  We do appreciate you and your many comments to our blog.

Yesterday we stayed in Digby, we did play golf, but the course wasn't as scenic as the course in Dundee.  There is not a lot to do in Digby, so we kind of took it easy for the day.  We have a few pictures for you.


We also took a walk along one of the trails at our resort.





This morning we woke to travel again, and now find ourselves in St, Andrews, New Brunswick. We started by taking the ferry across the Bay of Fundy.



I was a little cool this morning, actually the first time where we have needed to wear warmer clothes.


The travel took a bit over two hours, but it was a great shortcut over to Saint John, New Brunswick.  We took some time to explore Saint John.



We also spotted an old firehall / museum that we had to visit,.





Then a short trip to St Andrews, this place is well worth the visit and we are so impressed. We will summarize our favourite locations at the end of our trip, but St. Andrews is right up there. Very old and historic but beautiful, here are some pictures.





 Now back to the title of this post, there are some times in our lives when everything just seems perfect. It has happened to me once before on this trip, but sometimes you are just sitting and knowing that life, at times is just perfect.  Tonight I had another one of these times, sometimes they last for hours, sometimes minutes, but when they happen, take the time to appreciate it.  You may be with a loved one, friends, or even alone when the timing is perfect and you know that you are okay, life is wonderful, and thank God we live where we live.

Oh and our van. It was looking pretty grimy with all of our travels. And our little poster on our back window is going to be washed away with yesterdays rain, so we thought we would take one last picture.



Maybe not. This morning we got to the parking lot and while the van still needs some cleaning, the back window is looking much better.


We'll spend the day tomorrow exploring more of St. Andrews and we will show you more.

    We so agree with your comments...I'm sure that feeling of perfection has to do with the person by your side, too! You are now heading west, so safe travels as you are homeward bound!

    Well you have taken some terrific shots and they will be great memories to look back on. Looks like the weather has been cooperating except the 1 cool day you posted about.

St, Andrews by the Sea - a jewel

So we slept in today, I mean really slept in.  Let's just say that the free breakfast included with our room stopped serving at 11, and we had to rush a bit to make it before time was up. We went to the local Aquarium today for a visit, a nice small, simple place.  There was an exhibit where you could reach in to pick up Star Fish, Hermit crabs, other crabs etc.  It was fun pushing all of the kids out of the way to get to these creatures. They had a tank full of salmon and yes Bruce, I did find that flounder you asked about earlier in our trip. Next we went to Kingsbrae Gardens.  Barb loves gardening and flowers, so we walked through this place to see what they had.  We were disappointed since many of the gardens and flowers were not identified with a sign.  A lady working there explained that gardens with signs we were expecting is a Botanical Garden, while Kingsbrae is a horticultural garden.  Here they just display the diff...

Candle Pins and Mussels

No no no silly, you don't need big muscles to play candlepins.  Let us explain, We had a great day today.First off the van has been repaired!  Caliper on the passenger side front brakes were seizing which caused our problems yesterday but no damage to the brakes so we replaced the caliper and we are ready to go again. So back in the 80's Dave bowled with a gentleman named Ron Upson. Ron and his wife Gert live here in Sydney and today we spent the day with both of them.  First stop was a game of candlepins. We loved this version of bowling, never played it before and it was quite interesting and difficult,  Look how it went, No clearing of deadwood (pins that have fallen) in this game.  Strikes are difficult to get, we each had 1 in three games. With luck and smart thinking... we survived

Here was our plan today. Visit Hopewell Rocks, then find a beach, sit and relax for the day.  We thought maybe Parlee beach in Shediac but also thought we would likely visit Murray Beach, since it isn't quite as busy and closer to the Confederation Bridge which connects to Prince Edward Island. Barb has never seen this bridge. So here is what really happened. Hopewell Rocks was our first stop. Magnificent scenery and we timed it at low tide so we were able to walk on the ocean floor. Barb had to get her feet into the water, a section of the Bay of Fundy, where the tides cause the water to rise up to 4 storeys. Okay now our day changed a bit, we were both well rested and it was overcast so rather than sit on a beach, we decided to visit Prince Edward Island. It was only about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get there. While passing through Moncton, we noticed many people gathering by the river in a local park.
