Quebec city day 2
We are a bit late with this post since it was late when we got home last night and the hotel reset their wifi. We had trouble reconnecting so we gave up and went to bed. So let me catch you all up.
Barb and I lucked out when we chose to stay in Levis, it is just across the St. Lawrence river from Quebec City and there is a ferry to take you across. $8 per day to park and $3.55 to cross.

It is also the time of year for the Quebec summer festival so there are a number of stages set up throughout the city and concerts everywhere in the evening. We spent the day taking the city hop-on hop-off bus to see the entire city, old and new sections, then we walked everywhere. We will share some of the pictures here with you.
At one point we came across a church, a former Catholic Church. We were told that many of the churches have closed due to the high cost of repairs needed and low attendance. We went in to see this church.
Barb and I are not religious but after seeing such magnificent churches throughout Europe, and knowing that this place was once beautiful, it was really sad to see that this was now a place filled with boxes, books and old records. What a mess.
We didn't have time to go to Montmorency falls, which was our original plan. There was just so much to see in this city that we spent the entire day and evening walking around. We also skipped our planned trip to Ste Anne de Beaupre Basilica, again a beautiful church. We didn't mind too much however, after seeing St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, we felt that nothing could top that.
So we continued to explore.
Tomorrow (Thursday) we will leave this wonderful city and head to New Brunswick, and since I'm a day behind in my posts, I'll write about that and post it later.
